All About Me!

Hi! My name is Pooch, and I'm a terrier. I live in Chicago. I weigh 24 lbs and am about 14" at the shoulder. I'm mostly Rat Terrier and I think I might be a little bit Staffordshire Bull Terrier... Maybe some Jack Russell or Boston Terrier mixed in too. When I ask people to describe me in one word, they say: Terrier. I am terrier through and through! I am happy-go-lucky, fun-loving, very active... When I focus on something I want, I never give up until I have it! Oh, yeah, I also have an underbite...

I am a "one hip dog"-- I had a surgery which removed my hip bone called an "FHO". To see a diary about my FHO surgery and recovery/rehab, go to my HD page.

My Life

My favorite thing in the world is The Ball. This is a vinyl squeaky ball. They come in all different colors, but I'm not picky. If it squeaks, it's MINE! I would do anything for The Ball. When it goes behind the couch, I move the couch, even with people on it! If it goes under the La-Z-Boy I open up the footrest with my feet and teeth, go under and get it out! You can see them or buy your own from Petsmart by following the link below called "My Favorite Toy" I also like tennis balls, soft toys, and tug toys. Tug is a lot of fun! If someone is playing with me, they can lift the toy off the ground, and I'll just hold and and be lifted with it! I'll never let go! (hey, I *told* you I was a terrier.) Ok, actually I will let go but ONLY if you say the magic words- 'treat' or 'drop it'. 


Some of my favorite foods are: 
Oranges, bananas, apples, peaches, celery, carrots, lettuce, cucumbers, olives, pickles, salad w/oil and vinegar, tomatoes, dog treats, and anything else edible! 

Some things I like to do are: fetching toys (but not giving them up!), going for walks, running, playing, jumping, going to the park, barking, eating, having fun, doing tricks, and going to the beach. I also LOVE clicker training! I started this a few years ago and took a couple training classes with clicker training. It's so great- I just do stuff and I can MAKE my 'mom' give me treats! I'm not kidding.... You have to try it-- tell your humans! It is just so much more fun than regular obedience training, which I never liked....

Some of the tricks I know are: Give paw, play dead, speak, jump, wave, paint a picture, roll over, nose touch, 'play' a synthesizer keyboard, and I am learning how to honk a bicycle horn.
